You will see the

• 10:00 am - Meeting in Piazza Santa Croce, in front of the Enoteca Boccadama
• 10:15 am - Walking along the narrow streets of the Santa Croce neighborhood, the group will reach the first laboratory. While walking, the guide will describe the characteristics of Florentine neighborhoods, focusing on the history of the local arts and crafts. Since the year 1000, the local economy in Florence was supported by the artisans' activity.
• 10:30 am - Once in the first workshop, participants will attend a demonstration on how to create marbled papers.
• 11:30 am - Walking towards the second workshop (varying between ancient book binding and restoration, mask making, wrought iron, wood carving or textile restoration)
• 1:00 pm - Lunch at Trattoria Icche with Tuscan specialties and wines. After the lunch, the group will be escorted in the Ponte Vecchio area ("Old Bridge").
• 2:30 pm - Visit the jewellery production workshop, located inside an historical building, dating back to 500, a fascinating structure in Renaissance style. The artisan will show the complete working process, explaining the different techniques used to smelt, weld, and encase.
• 3:45 pm Return back to the meeting point and end of the excursion

10:00-12:30 a.m. Walks and visits to some of the symbolic sites of the city, to discover that at times the renaissance Florentine artistic culture was closely connected with the gastronomic culture, the taste for conviviality and good food.

12:30a.m. – 3.00 p.m. The itinerary ends in a typical Florentine palace of the city centre, situated between piazza Santa Maria Novella and via de’ Tornabuoni. Here guests may relax while trying some typical dishes of the great Italian culinary tradition, prepared by the host, a real wine and cooking connoisseur.

You will see the

• 1st Itinerary: Pontormo and Palazzo Pitti. The dietetic parsimony and luxury of the Palatine lunches. The antithesis of the relationship between art and food in sixteenth century Florence.

• 2nd Itinerary: The Cenacoli: art, food and religion in the great Renaissance frescoes. Discovering symbols and daily life in the tables laid for the Last Supper

• 3rd Itinerary: Food in the paintings of the Uffizi. From symbolism to the cultivation of prized crops.

• 4th Itinerary: Brunellleschi and the Duomo. An artist, an engineer and perhaps, a chef?

Lunch :

• A welcome aperitif made from white wine or sparkling white wine with something to whet the appetite: pecorino and broad beans or pecorino and fruit pickles, or Tuscan cold sliced meats, or Tuscan toasts with liver sauce topping.

• First course: generally with seasonal vegetables.

• Second course of meat or roast fish. - Pies and omelettes for vegetarians.

• One or two side dishes (salad, baked vegetables, cannellini beans).

• Red table wine: Chianti classico in a labelled bottle.

• A soft dessert: a cream tart or panna cotta or mousse with a sauce of some kind.

• Sweet wine: passito (raisin wine) or muscatel.
